“You never know how strong you are until being STRONG is the only choice you have.”

– David Stroud, 19

“Every day we think of David and his journey. We continue to be awed by the courage and strength he had to fight for so long. He did it because he valued life and the people in his life. David’s fight was possible because of the hosts of doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, technicians and others that fought with him and for him. To us, the David Stroud Symposium is a continuation of David’s journey. It’s our fight to help give every teenager and young adult who has to deal with this terrible thing called cancer the chance for a better outcome.”

– Dan, Jacqui and Rachel Stroud

AYA@USC has been hosting David Stroud Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology Symposium since 2013. These symposia provided rich and practical information covering the spectrum of important issues in AYA cancers, survivorship and supportive care to improve quality of life. They also helped build a robust network of advocacy and support community consisting of patients, caregivers, providers, healthcare professionals, advocates and community partners.
